This is what a collaboration between IDenizen Smartware Pvt Ltd and Corporation Bank is aimed at. The SmartCampus card is many cards rolled into one. SmartCampus is a software used in college campuses across India for administrative purposes. The card is an add-on to the software. “When the card was introduced three years ago in Karnataka, the chip was outside the card, exposing it to wear and tear. The new SmartCampus card is more user-friendly as it is enabled with radio frequency identification,’’ said Girish Baliga, CEO, IDenizen. The collaboration with Corporation bank is a step further as the card doubles up as a debit card. Students can swipe SmartCampus cards to pay cumulative fees. The card can also store records of the student’s performance in college. “Card-holders are eligible for education loan for domestic and foreign universities,’’ says B R Bhat, GM, Corporation Bank, adding that on completion of the course, students will have to surrender their SmartCampus cards to the college. They will get a regular debit card in its place. The card also holds good in establishments outside campus. To avail the service, students will have to pay a onetime fee ranging from Rs 700 to Rs 1,000, depending on the number of students opting for these cards. Over 60,000 students across India are using the Smart-Campus cards in degree and professional colleges. However, the card is not available for PUC students. !
