Bhajji banned for 11 IPL matches : IPL

The Indian Premier League (IPL) on Monday banned Harbhajan Singh for 11 matches after the Mumbai Indians off-spinner pleaded guilty to slapping Kings XI Punjab's S Sreesanth after their match in Mohali on Friday last. The ban, including Sunday’s match against Deccan Chargers, means curtains for Harbhajan’s IPL campaign, unless the Mumbai Indians reach the semifinals. That looks a distant possibility as they have lost all their four matches so far. Sreesanth was let off with a warning after a hearing here that lasted over two hours. The hearing was attended by IPL Chairman and Commissioner Lalit Modi and match referee Farokh Engineer, besides Harbhajan, who was charged with a Level 4.2 offence, and Sreesanth. Since Harbhajan is a contracted player with the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), the governing body too might take action against the Punjab tweaker in the coming days. !
