With the serial bomb blasts fresh in everybody’s memory, the Bangalore police are keeping extra vigil and have beefed up security for Gowri-Ganesha festivities. Policemen will be deployed in crowded places like markets, places of immersion and cultural arenas. The police have also issued guidelines to organizers of festivities. Organizers should get a noobjection certificate from the police, Bescom and BBMP before installing the idol. Additional commissioner of police (law & order) M R Pujar said sound systems should not be used from 10 pm to 6 am. During immersion, organizers should follow routes advised by the police and immerse idols only in tanks constructed for this purpose.
