With
the serial bomb blasts fresh in everybody’s memory, the Bangalore
police are keeping extra vigil and have beefed up security for
Gowri-Ganesha festivities.
Policemen will be deployed in
crowded places like markets, places of immersion and cultural arenas.
The police have also issued guidelines to organizers of festivities.
Organizers should get a noobjection
certificate from the police, Bescom and BBMP before installing the
idol. Additional commissioner of police (law & order) M R Pujar
said sound systems should not be used from 10 pm to 6 am. During
immersion, organizers should follow routes advised by the police and
immerse idols only in tanks constructed for this purpose. Action will
be taken against those who extort money in the name of donations for
the festival.
