Amit Kumar kept pleading that he is innocent. But one report said he tried to make “good use” of the huge amount of money that he was carrying — by attempting to bribe the Nepal police team which came to arrest him from a jungle resort in Chitwan district.He offered then lakhs to crores of rupees to the policemen,but they did not take the offer and arrested him.

Kumars wife said,
"My husband is not a monster as being portrayed around the world," said the 28-year-old wife of Kumar, Poonam. “My life is finished,” she said in Toronto. Poonam and her two young sons live in a spacious home at Brampton in the Canadian city.
