Litter Lalbagh : Get fined

Next time you think of throwing any leftovers or covers while you are at Lalbagh, think twice as you will have to pay a heavy fine.The Horticulture department and the Civil Defence have put their hands up to check the litter menance thats happening at Lalbagh.Anyone found littering in the park whether it is visitors or hawkers will pay a fine ranging from Rs.50 to Rs 400 from March 24.
The clean-up initiative is part of the Hasiru Kattu - A Green Code for Bangalore, which was launched to create awareness among people to work together in keeping the city clean, green and litter-free.
The campaign will begin on March 16, when the horticulture department, the state pollution board, the Civil Defence wardens and volunteers from the corporate sector and NGOs will take up cleaning of designated areas of Lalbagh, apart from guiding volu-nteers. “Between March 16 and March 23, volunteers will counsel visitors not to litter or carry plastic bags or bottles into the park. From March 24 onwards, fines will be imposed on litterbugs.
