NOC must for installing Ganesha idols: Bangalore

The police have asked people to obtain necessary no-objection certificates from civic agencies and traffic police for installing Ganesha idols in public places.

The police have asked people to get no objection certificate (NOC) from agencies such as the Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike, traffic police, Bangalore Electricity Supply Company and Fire and Emergency Services. “This is a plea to people to bring down the number of installations in an area and avoid inconvenience caused in terms of traffic movement and also for immersion,” said Police Commissioner Shankar M. Bidari.

In a press release, the police have asked organisations not to install the idols on roads and places where people move. They have asked been asked to make their own arrangements for security.

Strict action would be taken against those who forcibly collect money for installing idols. “Organisations can go for voluntary donations and not coerce people,”.

The police said sound systems and crackers with lower decibels could be used between 6 a.m. and 10 p.m. Care should be taken to avoid inconvenience to residents, senior citizens, students and patients. Use of loud speakers and crackers will be prohibited between 10 p.m. and 6 a.m. The police have appealed the organisers to cooperate with local police for smooth immersion, the release added.
