No more cut-outs, hoardings and flex posters of popular leaders in and around Vidhana Soudha area. On Thursday, the government ordered the BBMP to immediately remove all the posters and cut-outs around the secretariat.
The government also promised to check the hoarding mafia by bringing advertisements through hoardings under the purview of the proposed policy.
The rules strictly prohibit any kind of advertisements through posters, hoardings or cut-outs around Kumara Krupa Road, Raj Bhavan Road, Ambedkar Road, Post Office Road, Basaveshwara Circle, Maharani’s College Road, K R Circle, Cubbon Park and Lal Bagh, Nrupathunga Road and Palace Road. The maximum number of violations in this regard are seen in these areas. The BBMP has categorised city into four zones —- A, B, C and D — for the advertisement purpose.
Its said that there were only 38 advertisement hoardings on both sides of the road leading to Bangalore International Airport (BIA), yielding a revenue of only Rs 12.78 lakh a year.
As per the by-law, such type of ad hoardings shall not be permitted in circles and cross roads. There shall be a minimum 30 metre distance for erecting hoardings in nearby circles and cross roads.
