The catch word of BJP manifesto said “Promise backed by performance’’ and these are the assurances the party has to fulfil now.

FOR THE POOR
Community health insurance scheme to cover surgeries, accidents and other medical services.
Kanya-Dan scheme — assistance for mass marriages.
15 lakh houses for houseless in next five years.

FOR FARMERS
Free power to farmers having irrigation pump sets up to 10 hp.
Interest rate of 3% on crop loans to farmers borrowing from nationalized banks and regional rural banks.
Production assistance of Rs 2 per litre of milk for the milk producers.
EDUCATION
Total literacy within three years.
Progressive reduction of teacher-student ratio in schools to enhance the quality of education.
Free education for girls up to degree class.
Establishment of Sanskrit University.
Setting up of education tribunals.

HEALTH CARE
Assistance to women up to Rs 1,000 for delivery cases, both in government and private hospitals.
Life saving drugs to be exempted from taxes.
Telemedicine system at PHC level.

DRINKING WATER AND SANITATION
Measures to prevent pollution of water sources.

Underground drainage system in all towns in phased manner.

WOMEN WELFARE
Effective legislation for protection of women against harassment at workplace.
Payment of allowance of Rs 400 per month to poor divorced women till they remarry.

YOUTH WELFARE
Establishment of State Yuva Parishads on the lines of National Youth Council.
Formulation of state youth policy.

SOCIAL WELFARE
Rules for issuing caste certificates to be simplified and will be made valid for ten years.

MINORITY WELFARE
Measures to improve quality of education in Urdu schools and to appoint Kannada teachers.

RURAL DEVELOPMENT
Development of rural infrastructure — roads; water; power and communication — during next five years.

DAIRY AND ANIMAL HUSBANDRY
Protection of cattle and prevention of cow slaughter as per the constitutional provisions.

ENVIRONMENT PROTECTION
Environment protection to be included as a subject for study in high schools.
Action to discourage use of plastic.
Support to production of energy from urban waste through nanotechnology and other means.
Measures to reduce vehicular pollution, encourage use of LPG/CNG fuel and bio-fuels.
