Now on, the questions will come with more bite. Shaped and sharpened, right in the school classroom. Furthering the efforts to ensure greater awareness about the Right To Information, the Department of State Education Research and Training (DSERT) is set to incorporate RTI in the state’s school syllabus.

The plan is to include RTI as chapters in textbooks of classes 6 and 9.The move assumes importance considering that the RTI Act, 2005 recommends educational programmes by governments to enhance awareness and use of RTI. According to Section 26 of the Act, the appropriate government may "develop and organize educational programmes to advance the understanding of the public, in particular of disadvantaged communities as to how to exercise the rights contemplated under this Act.’’

Plan for RTI in textbooks next year In tune with government responsibility on RTI awareness KIC recommended move to education department Expected to create greater RTI awareness among youngsters
