Heading to Bangalore on August 14 is the monsoon music festival “Barkha Ritu — Celebrate Rain Celebrate Life,” organised by Banyan Tree Events from Mumbai. As people brave the winds and rain in the city, Barkha Ritu gives them the chance to wrap themselves up cosily and listen to acclaimed vocalist Devaki Pandit and santoor maestro Shivkumar Sharma.

The festival, which was to have taken place last month, is now slated for Thursday, 6.30 p.m. onwards at the Chowdiah Memorial Hall in Bangalore.

For the sixth year in a row, Barkha Ritu will deliver riveting performances to people of all ages. “Creating and organising festivals like Barkha Ritu is one of the ways by which we are making Indian classical music popular and very appealing to the common man, which is what our organisation stands for. What makes this festival special is that you can get to listen monsoon ragas based on the theme of the monsoon that are not performed during the rest of the year.
